While I was running a little late for my appointment with Big Mike, the staff was very courteous. Upon my arrival they called up Big Mike who kindly left the comfort of his home to meet with me at the shop. Over a StarBuzz, Sweet Melon, hookah he shared the story of how the Dragon’s Breath came to be; Big Mike is about 6’2 with arms covered in tattoos, it’s wasn’t hard to see that he’s a ‘Good Ole Boy’ who’s no stranger to a motorcycle. On a ride he came close to a brush with death and was spared by a white dragon made of smoke. In gratitude to the dragon, he named his shop Dragon’s Breath.

Among pipes, hookahs, and novelties the shop also sells furniture. In efforts to create “A Special Little Place for [his] customers,” and to create a nice display of his furniture, Big Mike created the sampling room. The room is tucked at the back of the store, and has a beautiful mural that’s reminiscent of a South American or East Asian jungle. In compliments to the mural, the walls are lined with East Asian tribal masks. A new edition, the store recently has begun carrying Tiffany’s lamps. Complete with a surround sound system, and a large, flat screen TV, the room is inviting to all of his regulars who come and enjoy hookahs from open until close. You can enjoy a bowl of any brand for $10.00 and a refill for only $5.00
