| Concepto Tambor, literally “Drum Concept” is an aural adventure. The seven group members describe their music as “Afro Peruvian Percussion and Voice Groove.” This style is made possible by the diverse backgrounds of the group members. Representing the USA, Chile, Brazil, Columbia, and Peru, their varied percussion background hints at the wide range of their musical style, from fast club beats to slow vocal rhythms and everything in between. The group started in New Mexico, USA as a cooperative project between local musicians in the Albuquerque rock scene. Through their music a spirit of collaboration is fostered between the musicians, but also with the crowd. Many of their songs feature a call and response style of singing that make the audience a large part of each performance. Currently alternating between Albuquerque, New Mexico and Long Beach, California, Concepto Tambor can be found performing at many different clubs in both cities. With two albums released and more tour dates on the horizon, make sure to lookout for Concepto Tambour in 2007, at the clubs and on your stereo. |
