 Cool Café is a blossoming hookah lounge/restaurant located in San Antonio, TX. The café has been open for just over two years and is located on the back side of a shopping center and strip mall, just off of Highway 410. Attracting Mediterranean food lovers and UTSA students, the café serves an open-minded and younger crowd.
| The establishment is primarily a restaurant, and seats 75 people,. On the cold rainy day I visited, however, the restaurant was only entertaining a couple of groups. Unfortunately, there’s no smoking area inside: Hookah smokers, instead, are seated at tables located on the front patio. While the atmosphere of the outdoor seating would probably be great on a warm spring or summer evening, it was wet and very cold on the winter day I visited. The café serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu appeared to be fairly priced with a large variety of Mediterranean dishes to choose from, including infamous smoothies, crepes, and even basmati rice dishes. | |  | Two brothers own the restaurant, and while one wasn’t present on that particular day, at least one of them is typically available to customers. The other staff was courteous and attentive. I selected a StarBuzz mango flavored hookah with ice and milk added to the base. The hookah smoked well, was setup properly, and was clean. Their premium tobacco blends range from $12 - $16 per bowl. The café also sells hookahs and StarBuzz tobaccos (A can of StarBuzz goes for about $20.00). Overall, the Cool Café may not be the place to go to be seen, but makes for a nice hang out spot for locals.
